Alabama Driver License Number Changes
Effective December 1, 2018, Alabama will begin issuing an 8-digit driver license number. Alabama will continue to support the existing 7-digit numbers and also the new 8-digit numbers. Alabama currently issues 8-digit non-driver identification cards.
Both numbers below will be valid DL formats as of December 1, 2018.
